Ignatius Piazza, as the founder and director of the nation's largest gun training school, Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, is the nation's largest opponent to gun control and advocates of gun control. While Ignatius Piazza certainly doesn't think that (most) gun control advocates have any other thought than public safety in mind, he can't help but wonder what kind of logic they think could possibly defend gun control. For the man who is in charge of Front Sight, the gun training school that delivers firearms training to more students annually than all other major gun training schools in the nation combined, gun control makes about as much sense as a law restricting the study of karate or other self defense training. Ignatius Piazza's opposition to gun control advocates isn't that he thinks they're out to harm America or out to hurt the survival of anyone in America, but he does think that they may inadvertently do just that: harm America with gun control. When asked what his solution to violent crime is, Ignatius Piazza's answer is quite simple: firearms training. What criminal, Front Sight's founder and director points out, would dare attack a citizen who he knew was likely armed and had received gun training? Surveys have shown that convicted felons are more often than not terrified of their victims and more than 80% have decided against a home invasion or armed robbery out of fear that their potential may be armed. Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight say that its numbers like these that prove that gun training would eliminate violent crime in America. While Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza's goal of delivering firearms training to all of America may seem impossible, the fact remains that it would be entirely possible to deliver gun training to the wise, responsible, capable American citizens who could actually do something with it. And imagine if firearms training were given to those in America who would be willing and able to responsibly use it: violent crime would be over as we know it! When faced with the prospect of gun control, Ignatius Piazza points to the utter fallacy of lawmaking that is the District of Columbia's handgun ban. The District of Columbia has the most restrictive gun control laws. In the District of Columbia, it is illegal to possess a handgun and shotguns and rifles in the home must be rendered inoperable. What, Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight ask, is more appealing to a criminal looking to rob someone -- or worse -- commit murder than to know that his potential target has not only never received gun training (because guns are illegal) but also has no way to defend himself against a gun (because guns are illegal). Not surprisingly, despite its handgun ban, the District of Columbia has the highest murder rate in the nation. Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza say that it's not "despite" the handgun ban, it's because of it that the District of Columbia is so immersed in murder. Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza insist upon America realizing the danger in assuming that gun control could possibly be effective. Firearms training is the only way to keep America safe. Universal gun control would destroy America, and Ignatius Piazza won't allow that.
