Front Sight Firearms Training Institute Can Teach How to Protect Yourself During a Robbery

By: Jayden Adams

Front Sight Firearms Training Institute is a facility that has the capabilities to teach people of all ages the art of self-defense. This story from the news illustrates a couple who could have benefited from Front Sight training: A husband and wife in Borough Park in New York were the victims of a home invasion and robbery on in which two masked men stole $400,000 in cash and jewelry. Officers responded at 9:45 p.m. after the suspects left the 54th Street home. The victims, a 58-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman, were not injured but the couple told police that the thieves, wearing ski masks and black jumpsuits, brandished box cutters and tied their hands with duct tape before removing $200,000 in cash and $200,000 worth of jewelry from a safe. The men may have entered through a first-floor window, the police said, and they fled in a white Chevrolet Suburban that may have been driven by an accomplice (Al Baker, NY Times).

Even though the couple was unharmed by the thieves their sense of safety has been greatly compromised in their own home. When Dr. Ignatius Piazza created Front Sight in 1996 his goal in life became to afford citizens of the United States peace of mind. Ignatius Piazza says, “Front Sight Firearms Training Institute teaches the most proven, real-world techniques, delivered in the most efficient manner, by the industry’s most select group of firearms trainers. Law enforcement and military instructors with real life and death tactical experience as well as instructors like myself who know what it is like to start at the bottom…”

Front Sight is not a place just for the young. A couple in their late 50’s are not too old to learn how to shoot a gun, or how to use their body for self-protection. Ignatius Piazza makes sure his courses teach individuals how to use their own, personal unique skills to their advantage. The couple from Borough Park is lucky in that the thieves only took money and jewelry and left the husband and wife unharmed. However, they stole their sense of safety, which is more valuable than the $400,000 that the burglars took. Many people in the United States are weary of using a gun, much less owning a gun because misconceptions and fear prevent innocent people from considering schools like Front Sight to learn self-defense. Not only is the “right to bear arms” in our Constitution, but too often it is the “bad guys” who take advantage of this right and the truth is a gun is just a tool to be used for either harming another person or defending your person.

The 58-year-old husband and the 57-year-old wife, because of their affluent status, most likely did not fear a burglary because like many people in the United States they feel safe with the bare minimum of protection, such as a burglar alarm, or a trained dog. When thieves are intent on robbery they are smarter and more cunning than people give them credit for. They will find a way into your house.
